I have been counselling since 1994, having initially trained at the Pastoral Foundation in Edinburgh.  I trained in EMDR with the  EMDR Institute www.emdr.com  and have been using EMDR since 2001 and became an EMDR Europe accredited consultant in 2006.  In 2009/10 I trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for working with trauma.

I am a qualified supervisor, having trained at the Iron Mill Institute in Exeter where I gained a Diploma in Supervision and Mentoring in 2003. I have experience of supervising counsellors, both individually and in groups, as well as offering supervision/consultancy to other professionals.

I have particular experience in working with trauma, childhood abuse, rape and sexual assault, domestic violence, addictions, bereavement, depression and anxiety. I work in a variety of ways including Transactional Analysis; creative ways of working at times when words are hard to find, including sand tray therapy; drawing and using puppets;relaxation techniques, visualisation and body focused work to enable people to find ways to calm the physically unpleasant symptoms of post traumatic stress. How we work together will depend on each individual’s needs and preferences.

I am a Senior Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy  a registered independent counsellor, an accredited consultant with EMDR Europe and a qualified counselling supervisor. I abide by the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am subject to their professional conduct procedures.

I practice in Glasgow at Park Counselling, in Edinburgh at HarrisHoward Psychology Practice and  in Biggar, South Lanarkshire.
