I trained at the College of Holistic Medicine in Glasgow and have worked as a counsellor for 11 years, both in private practice and for the NHS.  I have trained with the National Centre for Eating Disorders in London to gain skills in this field including skills in Nutritional Interventions.

My training was integrative, that is, person-centred with attention on body, mind and spirit and focus on understanding and strategy according to the client's expressed needs.

In the area of Eating Disorders, I can work practically to suggest changes in eating behaviour and also work in different ways to deal with underlying causes, for example, narrative practice methods  and non-violent communication techniques. Further information on non violent communication resources can be found at www.nvcresources.htm.

My approach is holistic and I use relaxation techniques and techniques  to allow the client to connect with the body as well as with feelings and the mind.  I believe we can all process our experiences so that our feelings and thoughts can be balanced, enough to allow us to act positively and appropriately in the present - the only place where we can be alive.
